IN MINE

ODIN MINE

The next morning, we made porridge, striked camp and left. Liz had lost the mouth piece of her platypus, so we had to take our route via Castleton to buy some bottles of water for her. We walked past Odin Mine and had a look in the cave.

Next we walked past Blue John Cavern, where someone ate a whole bar of Fruit and Nut, and ice creams were procured. The Fruit and Nut monster felt ill (again), so we just told her to keep walking. We reached Rushup edge where the other silver team walked straight past us.

There were some brilliant views off the top of the edge.

We made our climb up some of our members' first mountain (well an English mountain) called Brown Knoll at 569m. We ate our lunch at the top when we saw Angela and Mark walk up to us covered in peat, but not as covered as us. It was a lot of fun running and sliding through the peat and sinking.

VIEW

On the way down, there was a massive peat bog, which our navigator she would walk slowly down finding herself sliding to the bottom on her bottom. The other team members followed her and we all struggled to climb up the other side. We were tipped off there were some nice toilets in Hayfield so took our route via the PC.

WAY DOWN

THE WAY DOWN

We walked, or ran down the hill after being given evils by the over-friendly cows.

We climbed over a few more styles being told to be wary of aggressive cows, not that we saw any in the field.

We walked past Hayfield and saw some brilliant views across the valley, so we took some picturesque pictures (alliteration there again).

DINNER

DINNER TIME

We walked past the quarry, struggling with the hills by this point, except Brad who just kept walking until he had realised he had lost the rest of his team, so we all sat at the top of the road scoffing chocolate, Lucozade tablets and chillin'.

We reached Linnet Clough after following a very long track down to the campsite, well it seemed like a very, very long and tedious track!

We arrived to find the other silver team there already making a fire. We pitched our tents on the very muddy ground and went to join the others. After exploring the campsite some of us played mission impossible, getting some dirty looks by the staff, we made our dinner of pasta, and ravioli – YUM, YUM, YUM, GOOD FOR MY TUM! We all chilled out in the tents until we realised we had planned our route too long, so we took a visit to see Angela and Mark, which was quite a challenge.

WARM

THE CAMP FIRE

They decided as we were so perfect (not) that we could shorten it, so we were pleased. We went back to our tents, chatted and then went to sleep, it was freezing!
